Exhausted yet exhilarated
Drained but excited
Death lurks around every corner
But so too does love
Doves fought and fell to the ground
Right in front of me
I stared down at them in awe
Why did two birds just fall out of the sky?
Landing at my feet
The victor of their skirmish
Flew away, to find the love
It fought for
The Other dove gasped its last
Breath
I shook my head as if in a dream
As I kept walking to my car
From the hospital doors
